How does Fake tan work?

If you are new to fake tanning or have been using it for a while you may be interested to know how fake tanning products work. There are many different types of fake tanning products but they usually work in the same way. This page has information on how fake tan products work in order to help you to achieve that gorgeous glow.

The skin is made up of three layers, the epidermis which is the top layer of the skin, the middle layer which is the dermis and then right at the bottom is subcutaneous tissue. Fake tan occurs on the Epidermis where it reacts with the skin. Fake tan contains DHA which was discovered in Germany in the 1920's. DHA is a colourless sugar which reacts with the dead skin cells which are on the epidermis.

This is why fake tanning results vary as the colour develops as you are always renewing your skin cells. Every 35 to 45 days you will have an entirely new epidermis.

Fake tanning products usually last for 5-7 days although with the use of other products such as moisturiser you may be able to get your tan to last longer.

The ingredient DHA is not harmful in anyway.

If you are looking to avoid UV rays but also have a gorgeous tan then having a  spray on tan could be exactly what you have been searching for. There are many places which offer fake tan treatments from small towns to large cities. If you see a salon then why not nip in and have a sunless tan!

Airbrush tanning Vegas has a page dedicated to the different forms of tan from gradual tanning products to instant tanning products, which can be washed off with soap and water. Why not take a look at the other types of fake tan which you can use to get that healthy natural glow?
